Sabbath:
1.
Why does the Wilson Seventh-day Adventist church worship on Saturday?
Christians are to be followers of the teachings of Jesus Christ. Our
Lord Jesus demonstrated how God wants His children to live, so Christians
today should follow Him as closely as possible. Jesus, "as His
custom was, went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day." Luke 4:16
2. But Sunday is called the Lord's day, is it not? The Lord's day
is the Sabbath according to Mark 2:28. Nowhere does the Bible say
that Sunday or Friday or any other day is the Sabbath. Only Saturday,
the seventh day of the week, the day that our Jewish friends still
keep is called the Sabbath.
3. How did Sunday become the day of worship for most Christians? Tradition
has an amazing way of changing biblical truth and practices into systems
of convenience and compromise. There is no record of Jesus or the
apostles instructing their followers to keep any other day. History
records that the early church worshiped on Sabbath according to the
commandment. But early Christians, endeavoring to distance themselves
from the contempt poured upon the Jews, sought another day to celebrate
in worship. Over time laws supported not working and worshipping on
Sunday the first day of the week.
Second
Coming:
4. What does the word Adventist mean? It refers to the belief that
Jesus not only came and died for sin but that He is coming back to
get those who love Him to take them to live with Him for all eternity.
"The Advent" means Jesus' coming, and an Adventist looks
forward to His 2nd coming which is promised to be soon.
5. Will this Second Coming of Jesus be secret? The Bible says, "Behold,
He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him." Rev. 1:7.
In Acts chapter one it says that He "will come in like manner
as you saw Him go into heaven." The Disciples had visibly seen
their friend Jesus go into heaven with a cloud receiving Him out of
their sight. He will come back in the same way with every person seeing
Him.
Christian Church:
6. Is the Seveth-day Adventist Church a Christian Church? Yes, since
we take the Bible for what it says in its' wholeness; we believe that
one is saved by faith alone by the atonement of Jesus' death on the
cross of Calvary. "For God so loved the world that He gave His
only begotton Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but
have everlasting life." Jh. 3:16.
Biblical
Inspiration:
7. What should one believe about the reliability of the Holy Bible?
"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable.
. ." 2 Tim. 3:16. "For prophecy never came by the will of
man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit."
2 Pet. 1:21. So all scripture originates with God's inspiration in
the mind of His people. Prophecy comes from Him as well through biblical
writers.
Condition
after Death:
8. Does one receive reward at death? "The hour is coming in which
all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth-those
who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have
done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation." John 5:28,29.
